Integration of production planning with rolling forecast

 

MISSION

The electronic industry has very long replenishment times for electronic parts. Furthermore, constant changes of product specifications make it necessary to review the requirements for BOM items. To find a senseful compromise between demand driven production planning, flexibility and total parts availability, we implemented an end-to-end production planning system with rolling forecast. 

SOLUTION AND WORK PROCESS

The management concept considers the whole process from market to delivery:

  • Development of the integrated supply chain model and planning process model end-to-end

  • Implementation of a material management concept to realize best-in-class delivery service global

  • Determination of an algorithm-based rolling forecast combined with production planning

  • Synchronization of the demand driven material management with the supply systems of the suppliers

  • Real time monitoring of the production capacities and planning constraints

RESULTS

The designed supply chain and planning model was fully implemented in the ERP planning architecture of the company. The realized potentials are:

  • Avoidance of missing parts, especially with high replenishment times

  • Lower stocks of > 50% by synchronizing material requirements with customer needs

  • Higher productivity by > 20% through better balancing of workload and capacity 

  • End-to-end transparency and high reactivity in the supply chain
